We will try to make your first visit as easy as possible, and as informative as your needs require.

The diagnosis of cancer can be frightening and may undoubtedly raise many questions in your mind. Many of these questions will be answered during your first visit.

As a new patient, you will be interviewed privately by the nurse and asked to provide information about yourself. Your physician will perform a thorough medical examination and if you require cancer treatment, it will be explained to you in detail. You will be given printed educational materials to review at home and you will be asked to sign a consent form authorizing our specialists to provide the treatment your circumstances require.

Occasionally, additional testing is necessary before the physician can make decisions about your treatment. All tests and procedures will be explained to you by our staff and you will receive an appointment card listing the dates and times for each scheduled test and visit.

Your first visit will likely be longer than subsequent visits. We will try to make your first visit as easy as possible, and as informative as your needs require. Many patients find it helpful to bring a list of questions to each visit. Our physicians and staff want to be sure you have the answers you need. If you have any questions or would like additional information, please don’t hesitate to ask.

A complete network of ancillary services is also available to complement your primary cancer care and to support you and your loved ones. Additional services such as counseling, home care, support groups, transportation, physical therapy, and hospice care are also available through St. Elizabeth.

Our cancer care team of professionals understands the importance of having family and friends involved in your care. We will make every effort to include your family and friends in your education and treatment as your wishes indicate.
