Interested in Volunteering?

Volunteers are important members of the St. Elizabeth team and are treated as such. They make an impact on the comfort, care, and compassion experienced by our patients and guests. We value their time and aim to show our appreciation by offering the following to all our volunteers:

  • Experience – Volunteers interact with patients and staff daily, providing them with fulfilling service while also exposing them to the many careers and talents needed in a healthcare organization
  • Education – Volunteers receive a thorough orientation and training as well as ongoing educational opportunities
  • Recognition – We recognize the special talents and contributions of our volunteers through annual events, an awards program, and more
  • Network and References – Letters of recommendation are frequently written for students and adults seeking employment and educational opportunities

I love every aspect of the volunteer program. I love how I have the ability to get experience in the hospital as a high schooler before I enter the nursing program at NKU. I am very grateful for the doors and opportunities it has opened for me.

I vividly remember at the age of 12 years old, watching a physician from St. Elizabeth’s Emergency Department in Edgewood vigorously working to save my father’s life during his heart attack.

Very early on, my parents instilled in me a passion to always use the Golden Rule every day with respect not just to humans, but to all things in nature. Volunteering at St. Elizabeth only strengthens my resolve to stick to The Rule.

I’m entering into my thirteenth year as a volunteer in the gift shop at St. Elizabeth – Florence. It’s a fulfilling and enjoyable way to pass Thursday afternoons and the first Sunday of every month.
