Sally Bruce

sallybruceI became a St. Elizabeth volunteer in 2006 to give back to my community. As a breast cancer survivor I am assigned to the Nurse Navigator’s office in Breast Health where I call former clinic patients to see how they were doing. If they have any questions or concerns, I can direct them to someone who can help them. In 2012, I became one of the first volunteers in the newly created Cancer Resource Center. As a Resource Center volunteer I let patients and caregivers know what is available to them through St. Elizabeth and the community. Now that the new Cancer Center is open, Cancer Family Care and Cancer Support Community are part of the integrative services available on the ground floor. I help find the perfect complimentary wig for a patient, turning a sad face into a smiling face.

Being a St. Elizabeth volunteer has become a very important part of my life. Being able to help another cancer patient through their journey makes my heart sing.
