Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) participants may have the option to continue in the program without any financial risk.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has proposed all ACOs currently participating in the BASIC track of MSSP have the option to remain in their current level for the remainder of the ACO’s current agreement period. Previously, it was expected participating members would have to assume a certain level of financial risk to remain in MSSP.
MSSP is a voluntary program, designed by CMS to promote accountability for a population of Medicare beneficiaries, improve the coordination of fee-for-service (FFS) items and services, encourages investment in infrastructure and redesigned care processes for high-quality and efficient service delivery and promote higher value care.
St. Elizabeth has been a member of MSSP since 2017.
The final decision on this proposal is expected from CMS later in the year.
