St. Elizabeth Women Take Heart hosts Wine and Watercolor May 31

Edgewood, KY – Strokes are the No. 1 cause of serious disability for adults and the fifth leading cause of death.

Individuals can reduce their risk of having a stroke by 80 percent through healthy lifestyle choices. Maintaining a healthy weight, exercising regularly and eating a well-balanced diet are things individuals can do daily to decrease their risk.

It’s also important to recognize the warning signs: sudden numbness or weakness; confusion speaking or understanding speech; loss of balance or coordination; severe headache with no known cause; dizziness; and problems seeing in one or both eyes. These symptoms can be sudden and should be evaluated by a physician as soon as possible.

St. Elizabeth Healthcare is hosting an event for women who are interested in learning more about stroke prevention on Wednesday, May 31 from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. at the St. Elizabeth Training and Education Center, 3861 Olympic Blvd., Erlanger, Ky. 41018.

Women Take Heart: Wine and Watercolor pairs the latest in heart-health information for women from Dr. Mark Gilbert, cardiologist at St. Elizabeth Physicians, with a fun-filled evening led by Wine and Canvas.

The event is $25 per person and includes an alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage, appetizers and a step-by-step painting experience. Registration is required by Wednesday, May 17. For more information, call (859) 301-9355 (WELL).
