Edgewood, KY— St. Elizabeth Healthcare has matched a $7,500 contribution from the Reds Community Fund to help five urban Northern Kentucky schools receive baseball and softball equipment through Pitch In For Baseball. The five schools are Bellevue, Covington Holmes, Dayton, Holy Cross and Newport.
Each school will receive an equal share of $15,000 donated by St. Elizabeth Healthcare and the Reds Community Fund to purchase needed baseball and softball equipment. The program helps promote baseball within the urban core in the community and uses the game of baseball to build greater self-worth in urban youth by providing educational, social and guidance programs.
Pitch In For Baseball (PIFB) is a non-profit organization and industry leader in collecting and repurposing baseball and softball equipment. The organization has partnered with high schools in a similar fashion in Philadelphia, Chicago, Detroit, the Bronx, and the Twin Cities.
The equipment distribution event will occur on Wednesday, January 25 prior to the annual Reds Caravan.
