A type of cancer that begins in the uterus.

Overview

Most uterine cancer begins in the layer of cells that form the lining of the uterus. Cancer that begins in the lining of the uterus is called endometrial cancer. Risk factors include obesity and starting periods at an early age.

Symptoms

Symptoms include vaginal bleeding after menopause and bleeding between periods.

Treatment

Surgery to remove the uterus is the main treatment for uterine cancer. Other treatments might include chemotherapy or radiation.
