Hyperlipidemia

Updated: 2023-07-29

Description

A condition in which there are high levels of fat-like substances, called lipids, in the blood.

Overview

Symptoms

Hyperlipidemia does not cause any symptoms. A blood test to check cholesterol levels, called a lipid panel or lipid profile, is used to diagnose hyperlipidemia.

Treatments

Treatments include medicines, a healthy diet and exercise.
