Craniosynostosis

Updated: 2017-06-13

Overview

Craniosynostosis is a birth condition in which 1 or more joints in a baby's skull close too soon. As a result, the brain can't grow in its natural shape and the head is misshapen.

Symptoms

There can be a lack of head growth as the baby grows.

Treatments

Treatment involves surgery to separate the joints, giving the brain space to grow and develop.
