The Family Birth Place at St. Elizabeth Edgewood features 33 newly renovated state-of-the-art Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum suites, a six bed recovery unit, six private triage rooms, four surgical suites and an eight bed prenatal area.

Beginning June 3, 2013, St. Elizabeth Healthcare’s Family Birth Place will be screening all newborns for Congenital Heart Disease (CHD). CHD is the most common birth defect in newborns consisting of an abnormal structure to the heart, which creates an abnormal blood flow pattern. Please click here for more information on this new screening policy that will ultimately assist in healthier babies.


The New Maternal Fetal Center is located on the third floor at St. Elizabeth Edgewood. The new center offers an ultrasound procedure room, six ultrasound rooms, five non-stress test beds, two rooms dedicated to the Diabetes Program, two large dedicated rooms to the Genetic Counseling Program, and may other amenities in one comfortable soothing location.

Public tours of the enhanced St. Elizabeth Edgewood Family Birth Place are offered one Sunday each month. To register for a tour, call (859) 301-BABY (2229).
