Sairam Atluri, MD, FIPP

Many of the accomplishments of Sairam Atluri, MD, FIPP are unique to him and no other pain physician in the community has achieved them.

Dr. Atluri is rated by Becker Review as the one of the Top 70 Interventional Pain Physicians in the US and one of the Top 25 Interventional Pain Physicians in Ohio. He is the only one in the area to be bestowed this honor. Dr. Atluri has also been voted by his peers as a Top Doctor in Cincinnati Magazine multiple times.

Dr. Atluri is on the Task Force for the State Medical Board of Ohio to prevent Prescription Opioid Abuse and is on the expert witness panel for the State Medical Board of Ohio to prosecute physicians causing the epidemic of prescription opioid abuse. He is the most published author in Interventional Pain Management in the Tri-state area. To view his publications please go to, www.painphysicianjournal.com.

He is an instructor for cadaver courses conducted by the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians and he trains other interventional pain physicians in the performance of spinal procedures. He has also written a chapter in a widely respected text book about the performance of Epidural Steroid Injections.

Dr. Atluri is triple board certified in Pain Management – by the American Board of Specialties, American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians and World Institute of Pain. He is also board certified in Anesthesia.

Previously, Dr. Atluri served as the Vice President of the Ohio Chapter of American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians. He was also a Speaker at the Annual and Semi-Annual national meetings of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.

Steven C. Bailey, M.D.

Steven C. Bailey, M.D. serves as a Neurosurgeon for the St. Elizabeth Healthcare Spine Center. He earned his undergraduate degree from the Denison University in Granville, OH in 1993 and his M.D. from the The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH in 1997. He completed his internship in general surgery from 1997 to 1998 and his residency in neurosurgery at the Medical University of South Carolina from 1997 to 1998 and 1998 to 2003 respectively.

In addition to his work with St. Elizabeth, Dr. Bailey has also served as a Neurosurgeon for Mayfield Clinic in Cincinnati since 2003 and an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery for the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine since 2009.

Dr. Bailey is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. He is also an active member of the American Association of neurological Surgeons, the congress of Neurological Surgeons, the American Medical Association and the Frank H. Mayfield Society.

Dr. Bailey’s areas of expertise are spine surgery, including spinal fusion, discectomy and decompression; surgical management of pain, including spinal cord and nerve stimulation and intrathecal pain pumps; surgical management of facial pain and trigeminal neuralgia; image-guided neurosurgery; intracranial surgery for brain tumors and Chiar malformation.

Eric Brandser, M.D.

Eric Brandser, M.D. earned his bachelor of science from the University of Iowa in 1984 and his M.D. from the University of Chicago in 1988. He completed his internship at Illinois Masonic Medical Center, his residency at Rush Presbyterian and St. Luke Medical Center and his fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology at the University of Iowa.

Prior to joining St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Dr. Brandser served as an Associate professor of Radiology for the University of Iowa.

Dr. Brandser is board certified by the American Board of Radiology. His special interests include Musculoskeletal Radiology and Musculoskeletal Procedures.

Eli R. Cianciolo, M.D.

Eli Cianciolo, MD is a Harvard trained and board certified Interventional Pain Management & Spine Treatment specialist. As a fellowship trained practitioner he utilizes the latest and most advanced minimally invasive procedures to diagnose and treat herniated discs, lower back and neck pain, degenerative disc disease, sciatica, stenosis, vertebral compression fractures, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), work-related and other injuries and chronic pain conditions.

Dr. Cianciolo earned his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine in 2004. He completed his internship in internal medicine at The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, OH from 2004 to 2005, his residency in anesthesiology at University Hospital in Cincinnati, OH from 2005 to 2008 and his fellowship in interventional pain management at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA from 2008 to 2009.

Dr. Cianciolo is board certified in Pain Medicine and Anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology. He is also a member of the International Spine Intervention Society, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the American Society of Regional Anesthesia, the Greater Cincinnati Pain Society and the Ohio Society of Anesthesiologists.

Dr. Cianciolo’s areas of expertise include interventional pain management and spine treatment, back pain, vertebral compression fractures, arthritis of the spine, sciatica, pinched nerves, spinal stenosis, and neck pain. His procedures include epidural steroid injections, transforaminal epidural steroid injection, medial branch blocks/facet injections, radio frequency ablation, vertebroplasty, kyphoplasty, and spinal cord stimulation, among others.

Kirk Doerger, M.D.

Kirk Doerger, M.D. earned his bachelor of science from The Ohio State University in 1995 and his M.D. from the University of Chicago in 1999. He completed his internship at MacNeal Hospital, and his residency and fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology at Mayo Clinic.

Dr. Doerger is board certified by the American Board of Radiology. His special interests include Musculoskeletal Radiology and Musculoskeletal Procedures.


Darren R. Hurst, M.D.

Darren R. Hurst, M.D. earned his bachelor of arts from Miami Universtiy in Oxford, OH in 1991 and his M.D. from the University of Cincinnati in 1995. He completed his residency and his fellowship in interventional radiology at the University of Michigan.

In addition to his work with the Spine Center, Dr. Hurst also serves as Co-Director of Vascular and Interventional Associates. He is also the Lead Investigator for the Uterine Fibroid Registry (SEMC) and the Capture Trial for Carotid Artery Stenting (SEMC).

Dr. Hurst is board certified by the American Board of Radiology and holds a certificate of added qualifications in Vascular and Interventional Radiology.

Dr. Hurst’s special interests in interventional radiology include uterine fibroid embolization, TIPS and vascular intervention.

Raj V. Kakarlapudi, M.D.

Raj V. Kakarlapudi, M.D. attended Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska for his undergraduate education in 1996, Dr. Raj Kakarlapudi proceeded to attend Creighton University School of Medicine for his medical education. During his education, he was actively involved in research and was awarded the William J Albano Award for outstanding research activity in 2004.

Upon completion of medical school in 2004, he was accepted into the accredited Orthopedic Surgery residency program at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. Following his residency, he did an additional Spine Surgery Fellowship at Indiana Orthopedic Hospital, also known as OrthoIndy Spine in Indianapolis, IN. At OrthoIndy, Dr. Kakarlapudi was trained in the latest percutaneous and minimally invasive spine surgery procedures, along with image guided spine navigation for spine surgery.

Dr. Raj Kakarlapudi has successfully completed his Orthopedic Board Part I and his United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Steps I, II, and III. He is licensed to practice medicine in Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio.

Brian Lawler, M.D.

Brian Lawler, M.D. earned his bachelor of science from the University of Cincinnati in 1990 and his M.D. from The Ohio State University in 1995. He completed his residency and his fellowship in interventional radiology at Johns Hopkins University.

Dr. Lawler is board certified by the American Board of Radiology. He also holds a certificate of added qualification in vascular and interventional radiology.

Dr. Lawler’s special interests in interventional radiology include vertebroplasty, vascular interventions and uterine fibroid embolization.

Bradley G. Mullen, M.D.

Bradley G. Mullen, M.D. is the Physician Coordinator for St. Elizabeth Healthcare’s Outpatient Spine Center, and has been affiliated with St. Elizabeth Healthcare since 1991.

A life-long Northern Kentucky resident, Dr. Mullen graduated summa cum laude from Thomas More College and earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville. He completed his internship and residency in neurological surgery at the University of Cincinnati. Previously, he worked for over 15 years as a board certified neurosurgeon for the Mayfield Clinic, wherein he established that group’s presence in the Northern Kentucky community.

Dr. Mullen has over twenty-five years of experience in dealing with spinal disorders, and was the first surgeon to successfully treat patients with spinal cord stimulation in the region.

Tann Nichols, M.D.

Tann Nichols, M.D. earned his undergraduate degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH in 1997 and his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University, School of Medicine in Cleveland, OH in 2001. He completed his internship in general surgery and his residency in neurosurgery at the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL from 2001 to 2002 and 2002 to 2008 respectively.

In addition to his work with St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Dr. Nichols has also served as a Neurosurgeon for the Mayfield Clinic in Cincinnati, OH since 2008 and as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery for the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine since 2009. While he is affiliated with most major hospitals in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, his primary hospital affiliations are St. Elizabeth Healthcare and The Christ Hospital Spine Surgery Center.

Dr. Nichols is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. He is also an active member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the Academy of Medicine of Cincinnati, the AOSpine International, the American Medical Association, the Kentucky Medical Association, the Frank H. Mayfield Society and the Southern Neurological Society.

Dr. Nichols’ areas of expertise are minimally invasive spine surgery, including discectomy, decompression, spinal fusion; spinal cord stimulation, intrathecal pain pumps and kyphoplasty; brain tumors; carpal tunnel syndrome and ulnar nerve neuropathy.

Michael T. Rohmiller, M.D.

Michael T. Rohmiller, M.D. is a native of Northern Kentucky. He attended medical school at the University of Kentucky, College of Medicine where he graduated summa cum laude. Following medical school, he completed both his internship in general surgery and his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. He also completed a fellowship in spine surgery at the San Diego Center for Spinal Disorders and a second fellowship in pediatric orthopaedics and scoliosis surgery at the Children's Hospital of San Diego/University of California in San Diego, CA.

Dr. Rohmiller joined Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in 2005. His special interests include pediatric spinal surgery and scoliosis, adult scoliosis surgery and minimally invasive surgery of the spine. He is a member/candidate member of the North American Spine Society, Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America, Scoliosis Research Society, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

In 2010, Dr. Rohmiller was named to Cincinnati Magazine’s list of "Top Doctors".


Bradbury Skidmore, M.D.

Bradbury Skidmore, M.D. earned his undergraduate degree from Kenyon College in Gambier, OH in 1983 and his medical degree from Wright State University in Dayton, OH in 1987. He completed his internship at University Hospital in Cincinnati, OH from 1987 to 1989 and his residency at several different hospitals from 1989 to 1995 (Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA from 1989 to 1990; Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, OH in 1990; The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, OH from 1992 to 1993; Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, OH in 1992 and University Hospital in Cincinnati from 1991 to 1995).

In addition to his work with St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Dr. Skidmore has also served as a Neurosurgeon for the Mayfield Clinic in Cincinnati, OH since 1995 and as the Secretary of their Board of Directors since 2009. He has also held the positions of Vice President for The Christ Hospital Spine Surgery Center (formerly Mayfield Clinic Spine Surgery Center) and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery for the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine since 2009.

Dr. Skidmore is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. He is also an active member of the Academy of Medicine of Cincinnati, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the American Medical Association, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the Northern Kentucky Medical Society and the Frank H. Mayfield Society.

Dr. Skidmore’s areas of expertise include minimally invasive spine surgery, discectomy, decompression, spinal fusion; spinal cord tumors, brain tumors and intracerebral hemorrhage.

Sean Wells, M.D.

Sean Wells, M.D. earned his bachelor of science from Purdue University in 1991 and his M.D. from the University of Louisville in 1995. He completed both his residency and his fellowship in neuroradiology at the University of Texas Southwestern.

Dr. Wells is board certified by the American Board of Radiology. His special interests include Neuroradiology, Vertebroplasty and Spine Intervention.
