Protecting Your Hands While Gardening Summer is here and it’s time to get down and dirty in the garden. Here are a few tips to prevent hand injuries while gardening:
Fireworks Safety As we near the Fourth of July, please be aware of fireworks safety.

According to, an average of 200 people go to the emergency room every day with fireworks-related injuries in the month around the July 4th holiday. Of those injured, 46% are injuries to the hands and fingers. These injuries can be life changing. The injuries range anywhere from minor burns to major finger and hand amputations.
General Tips to Avoid Hand and Arm Overuse Here are some tips to avoid hand and arm overuse:
  • Use a larger and neutral grip when grasping objects – try to keep your wrist in a straight position (not bent in either direction) when grasping and use larger handled tools, utensils and pens to avoid tight gripping.
