St. Elizabeth has a powerful mobile tool in the fight against cardiovascular disease with the new CardioVascular Mobile Health Unit. Sponsored by the Bank of Kentucky, made possible by the generous support of John C. Holmes, M.D., along with contributions from St. Elizabeth 2008-10 Vision employee donors, the unit brings technology & expertise for diagnosing cardiovascular disease, stroke and diabetes to where you live work and play.
The $500,000 unit is equipped with an array of the latest medical innovations, including state-of-the-art EKG and ultrasound equipment, to perform on-site tests aimed at detecting all manner of risky health conditions, including:
- Carotid artery disease
- Peripheral arterial disease
- Abdominal aortic aneurysm
- High blood pressure
- Abnormal blood glucose levels
The CardioVascular Mobile Health Unit extends the expertise and excellence of St. Elizabeth vascular services to the places where local residents can access it most easily, including physician offices, churches, businesses, health fairs and retail sites across the region. The unit also allows St. Elizabeth to reach those who either can’t travel to healthcare providers or might not otherwise seek cardiovascular screenings.
By deploying the CardioVascular Mobile Health Unit to locations where you live, work and play, St. Elizabeth strives to deliver topnotch care and technology directly to those who need it, where it is most accessible. In this way, the organization hopes to better prevent and reduce cardiovascular disease, stroke and diabetes through screenings, risk appraisals and education.
Screenings are critical to early detection when there are rarely any outward signs of disease. The new mobile unit makes obtaining critical screenings easier and more convenient.
