Ask the Expert: What is LINX?

Dr.Williams

Dr. Valerie Williams and patient, Jill, explain how the LINX device works to relieve reflux and heartburn.

Every time she took a bite of one of her favorite foods, Jillian Burdorff said heartburn followed.

"You take the Tums, you take the Rolaids, you go from one or two to two or three, then you're eating them like M&M's," said Burdoff.

She even took prescription medications only to discover she had GERD, gastroesophageal reflux disease.

"Basically it involves a defect, or a defective valve at the bottom of the esophagus," said Dr. Valerie Williams.
