Overview

Hamartoma is a noncancerous tumorlike growth. It can occur in a number of places in the body. There are many kinds of hamartoma, including melanocytic nevi and hemangioma.

A hamartoma may be harmless. However, it can cause problems by causing pressure, an obstruction, or infection.

Treatments

Surgery may be needed.
