Magnet Award

St. Elizabeth Healthcare Edgewood, Covington and Grant facilities achieved their fourth consecutive Magnet designation as a reflection of their nursing professionalism, teamwork and superiority in patient care. The American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program® distinguishes organizations that meet rigorous standards for nursing excellence.

St. Elizabeth Edgewood, Covington and Grant were the first hospitals in Greater Cincinnati to achieve Magnet designation in 2006. Of the more than 6,000 American Hospital Association registered hospitals, roughly 530 are Magnet designated, and of those, only 107 have achieved this designation four consecutive times.

Magnet designation is the highest national honor for nursing excellence and provides the ultimate benchmark for patients, loved ones and community members to evaluate healthcare organizations and the quality of care they can expect. St. Elizabeth Florence and Ft. Thomas achieved this designation in 2018, which then made all St. Elizabeth Healthcare hospitals Magnet designated.

The Magnet Recognition Program™ provides benefits to not only the healthcare organization, but also the people they serve:

  • Higher nurse job satisfaction
  • Lower failure to rescue rates
  • Lower mortality rates
  • Higher nurse-perceived quality of care
  • Higher patient rating of hospital experience
