Post-COVID-19 Recovery Program

If you or a loved one had COVID-19, you know firsthand the many ups and downs of the recovery journey. Recovery from COVID-19 can be frustrating, especially when symptoms linger. If regular activities feel out of reach or too challenging to complete, our team can help.

Our St. Elizabeth Healthcare team offers comprehensive evaluations post-COVID-19. We discuss your experience with COVID-19 and talk with you about your current symptoms and ongoing concerns. This information helps our team create a unique treatment plan to fit your needs.

Physical Therapy

We know that recovering from COVID-19 can take weeks or even months. Everyone is unique and has their own unique COVID-19 experience. Maybe you were hospitalized and now need support to regain strength and muscle tone. Perhaps you’re experiencing lingering weakness or neurological symptoms like brain fog or dizziness. Is it difficult to catch your breath after walking or do you feel like you are going to fall?

Physical therapy can help with these symptoms. In many cases, physical therapy can help you return to the activities you did before you got sick.

Common COVID-19 symptoms that physical therapy can help with include:

  • Aching muscles
  • Balance
  • Breathing issues
  • Fatigue
  • Headaches
  • Joint pain
  • Muscle weakness

Our dedicated team of physical therapists can address these concerns and help you return to work, sports and other daily activities. Through a combination of in-person and at-home exercises, we’ll work together to improve your strength, stamina and overall well-being.

Occupational & Speech Therapy

COVID-19 impacts everyone differently. This means your recovery will be unique as well.

People who required medical care, such as intubation or a tracheotomy, may benefit from speech therapy to regain swallowing and speaking skills. In addition, speech therapists can help address and issues with breathing or cognitive functions such as attention, problem solving, thinking and reasoning.

COVID-19 can make activities you do every day, usually without even thinking about them, very challenging. Are you having difficulty with activities such as getting dressed in the morning, going to the bathroom, taking a shower, or preparing meal? Occupational therapy can help you regain your independence and reach your recovery goals. Therapists can recommend adaptive equipment and modifications to make return to daily life successful and smooth.
