Non-Surgical Hip Pain Treatments Our specialists will talk through all of your care options including non-surgical treatments. Your physician may prescribe a combination of exercises and physical therapy along with anti-inflammatory medicines to get the most effective combination of treatments. Exercise and physical therapy – improves muscle strength and flexibility; helps to reduce hip pain. Anti-inflammatory medications – non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) help relieve mild to moderate hip pain by reducing inflammation. Injections – a corticosteroid (cortisone shot) can be given directly into the joint to reduce inflammation and pain. Surgical Hip Pain Treatments The St. Elizabeth Total Joint Center offers both inpatient and outpatient surgical options for hip pain. Our affiliated surgeons have the expertise and experience you want when it comes to making the choice for hip surgery, including: Anterior approach hip replacement – a minimally invasive procedure that accesses the hip joint through a small incision toward the front of the hip, sparing injury to muscles around the joint. The anterior approach makes healing and recovery much easier. Posterior approach to hip replacement – the traditional hip replacement method that uses an incision toward the back of the hip. Same day total hip replacement – patients undergo the anterior hip replacement procedure but are discharged later that day to recover at home. If you meet the medical criteria and have support at home, the same-day option may be right for you. Inpatient total hip replacement – patients undergo a hip replacement procedure and stay in the hospital one-two nights after surgery. Schedule an Appointment If you haven’t found relief from non-surgical hip treatments, we can help.
