Emily began performing chest compressions while screaming for help. Moments later, a stranger emerged from the woods after their dog ran toward him barking.

“He came running through the woods and said, ‘I know CPR,'” Emily said.

The man, later identified as a retired firefighter, took over compressions until paramedics arrived. Shawn was rushed to St. Elizabeth Hospital, where doctors say the early CPR made all the difference.
