LOCAL 12: Medical Edge - Grief Camp for Kids An 8-year-old boy got some help after the loss of his dad from St. Elizabeth Healthcare and a horse.

Most people don't get to share their grief standing in a stable.  But Ben said Porter, his horse at The Potters Ranch, just seemed to listen when he told him about his dad.

St. Elizabeth Hospice Sponsors Equine Grief Camp The St. Elizabeth Hospice STARS program will host an equine grief camp at Potter’s Ranch in Union, Kentucky June 17 – 20 and July 21 - 24, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. Dealing with the death of a loved one is never easy, but facing this confusing process as a child can be even more difficult. The STARS program helps kids better understand their loss and find strength through their grief journey.

The 57-year-old father of three is raising money for St. Elizabeth Healthcare Hospice in his hometown of Edgewood and sees his two-week trip as a “celebration of life.”

Miller was diagnosed with stage IV metastatic pancreatic cancer in July 2012. Doctors told him the disease was inoperable and non-curable.
