Dr. Mario Castillo-Sang specializes in minimally invasive mitral valve surgery and is passionate about achieving excellent outcomes for his patients. Dr. Castillo-Sang is one of the nation’s leading experts in heart valve surgery. He has performed more than 700 minimally invasive mitral valve repairs or replacements, including complex mitral valve surgeries. This level of experience is found in only a handful of surgeons nationally. He also has considerable expertise in implanting left ventricular assist devices, which aid the heart’s pumping action in people who have severe heart failure. He grew up in Panama City, Panama, and received his medical training in Mexico and the U.S. During his general surgery residency in Toledo, Ohio, he met his wife – a native Cincinnatian – who is a urologist in Greater Cincinnati. They have two daughters. Dr. Castillo-Sang speaks English, Spanish and French.
I really feel blessed to have Dr Castillo Sang as my surgeon. He actually seems to be concerned about my well being. He did a wonderful job with my surgery, I have told all my family and friends if they have a heart issue call Dr Sang.
