On average, over 1,400 different individuals volunteer throughout St. Elizabeth Healthcare and log over 115,000 hours every year.

Our volunteers range from high school students to adults in their 90s. More than 150 of these individuals have volunteered for 10 or more years.

Why do they do it? Because they are passionate about their role in making a positive difference in the patient experience.

2026-2027 High School Service Internship Applications

Application review is under way. Staff are reviewing applicants, scheduling interviews and will select the class of 2026-2027 soon. Last year we interviewed 100 students from 160 applicants, so we are expecting a huge number again this year.

Students from approximately 15 local schools spend a portion of their school day at St. Elizabeth collaborating with staff, learning about future career paths in patient care, engineering/facilities, information technology, culinary, business, and business/marketing through service-learning opportunities.
