Healing the Heart without Breaking the Breastbone Seminar Thursday February 28, 2013 To download a pdf of this news release, please click here. Edgewood, KY - Dr. Will Clements and Dr. Michael Gibson, cardiothoracic surgeons, will discuss how they perform heart surgery such as mitral valve repair with the da Vinci surgical robot at St. Elizabeth Edgewood on Tuesday, March 5 at 6 p.m. Unlike traditional heart surgery, where the patient’s breast bone must be broken for the incision, the da Vinci surgical robot allows the surgeon to reach the patient’s heart through a small three-inch incision between the ribs on the patient’s right side. The smaller incision means less pain and generally half the recovery time. Dr. Clements and Dr. Gibson will be available after the presentation to answer any participant questions and the da Vinci surgical robot will be on hand for live demonstrations and test drives by event participants. Date: Tuesday, March 5 Time: 6 p.m. Location: St. Elizabeth Edgewood Conference Rooms L & M Cost: FREE Registration: For questions or to register, please call (859) 301-5999.
