Total Knee and Shoulder Replacement Surgery

Carol Irbin has had problems with her joints. She had rheumatoid arthritis in both of her knees and a fall on her shoulder caused arthritis to form in that joint. Because of these issues Carol had shoulder replacement surgery in 2016, and knee replacement surgeries in 2017 and 2018.

Carol says, “I was miserable. I couldn’t stand to stand. My joints cracked all the time.”

Dr. R. Michael Greiwe, an affiliated orthopaedic surgeon with OrthoCincy Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine performed Carol’s total shoulder replacement at St. Elizabeth Joint Center. Dr. Matthew T. Hummel did the joint replacement surgery on both of her knees.

“My mom had her knees and hips done by Dr. Hummel, so the only way I was going to get it [joint replacement] done, was with Dr. Hummel,” says Carol.

Carol describes her experience, “It was a great experience, I am thankful I had it done. I wish I would have done it years ago.”
