CINCINNATI —The tanning sensation is on the rise. Despite warnings from doctors and cases of melanoma increasing, more young people are tracking UV rays with apps and talking about their sun strategies on social media.

Researchers say using tanning beds before the age of 20 increases the chances of developing melanoma by 47 percent. But that’s not stopping people, especially young people.

“It’s a completely preventable cancer in theory,” Dr. Dan Flora said.

Flora is a medical oncologist with St. Elizabeth. Every day he sees people, many of them in their 20s and 30s, battling Melanoma.
