Laura Barczewski, M.D.

Dr. Laura Barczewski is originally from a suburb of Columbus, Ohio. She earned her undergraduate degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio where she majored in zoology and minored in comparative religion. She earned her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati.

It was during her time at the University of Cincinnati that Laura found her passion for family medicine. She is particularly interested in patient education and working with the underserved population.

Laura and her husband, Matt, currently live in Clifton, Ohio with their dog, Dexter. The couple is thrilled with the recent birth of their first child.

Outside of medicine, Laura’s interests are varied and include outdoor activities such as running, cycling and hiking as well as reading, travelling and playing board games. Laura’s faith is also very important to her. She attends Crossroads Community Church.


Marc Curvin, M.D.

Dr. Marc Curvin is originally from Tennessee. Immediately following high school he joined the Marine Corps. Following his time in the service, he attended Tennessee Technological University where he earned his undergraduate degree in physics. He is also a graduate of Vanderbilt where he earned his graduate degree in biomedical engineering.

Marc was originally drawn to the St. Elizabeth Family Medicine Residency program because of the people he encountered throughout the interview process. He was also impressed with the quality of service that St. Elizabeth offers to its patients, the program’s reputation and the commitment of the faculty to the evolution of the practice of medicine.

Marc’s wife, Juliane, is a native of Brazil and trained as a forestry engineer in the Amazon rain forest. Prior to medical school, they enjoyed a successful career in informatics and frequently worked on projects together. Outside of medicine, Marc’s interests include traveling, sightseeing, exercising and gardening. He also enjoys flying and holds a private pilot’s certificate with instrument ratings.


Sean Dillon, M.D.

Dr. Sean Dillon is originally from central Indiana. He is a graduate of Ball State University where he earned degrees in both Spanish and biology. Prior to attending Ross University for medical school, he taught one year of high school Spanish.

Sean chose St. Elizabeth for his residency because of the strong, balanced curriculum and the supportive environment that it offers. He and his wife have three children and they are excited to be close to home in the Northern Kentucky/Greater Cincinnati area.

Outside of medicine, Sean enjoys spending time with family, running, biking, swimming and hiking. He is excited to see how the Lord will shape him and use him as a physician to impact the lives of others.


Philip Hartman, M.D.

Dr. Philip Hartman is originally from the Cincinnati area. He is a graduate of Wheeling Jesuit University where he earned his bachelor of science in biology. He earned his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine.

Philip credits his inquisitive nature for leading him to his research experiences in water quality in coalmine regions, immunology, angiogenesis and wound healing/subglottic stenosis formation.

Philip and his wife, Christy, have three children. Outside of medicine he enjoys spending time with his family, biking, swimming, gardening, working on cars and creating things in his workshop. He also enjoys reading and his favorite author is Michael Connelly.


Simon-Alexandre LoVasco, M.D.

Dr. Simon-Alexandre LoVasco is originally from Montreal, Canada. He is a graduate of the University of Montreal where he earned his degree in biochemistry. Prior to attending medical school in Grenada, he worked for six years at a local hospital serving the Italian community.

Knowing almost nothing about Kentucky prior to his interview, Simon chose St. Elizabeth Family Medicine Residency because he felt at home from the moment he stepped into the hospital and began chatting with staff and residents.

Simon and his wife have recently been blessed with the birth of their son, who was born at St. Elizabeth. Outside of medicine, he considers himself a die-hard Montreal Canadiens fan. Though he loves sports in general, his favorites are hockey and soccer. He is fluent in French and Italian and is able to hold a conversation in Spanish.


Kruti Patel, M.D.

Dr. Kruti Patel was born in the suburbs of Chicago and grew up in Kenosha, Wisconsin. She earned her bachelor of science in biology from the University of Wisconsin – Parkside and her medical degree from the American University of Antigua, College of Medicine.

Kruti has a passion for family medicine and was attracted to St. Elizabeth because of its resident interaction and excellent faculty. She also appreciates how much Edgewood reminds her of her hometown.

Outside of medicine, Kruti’s interests include sightseeing, playing tennis and artwork. She is currently engaged and planning to get married in the spring of 2013.


Aleena Slone, M.D.

Dr. Aleena Slone grew up in the beautiful Appalachian mountains of Eastern Kentucky in a very small town called Dema. She earned her bachelor of science in biology from the University of Kentucky and her medical degree from Saba University School of Medicine.

Aleena chose St. Elizabeth Family Medicine Residency because the program is well-rounded and is focused on providing excellent care for patients. She enjoys living in Edgewood, Kentucky with her husband and twin sister, who is also a resident at St. Elizabeth.

Outside of medicine, Aleena’s interests are varied and include painting, sculpting, drawing, crocheting, knitting, making plush toys and gardening. She is a devoted Christian, is currently studying the Japanese language and enjoys learning about other cultures. Also, in her spare time, she loves to play the ocarina (an ancient flute).


Stephanie Stirrat, M.D.

Dr. Stephanie Stirrat is originally from Florence, Kentucky. She is a 2003 graduate of Conner High School in Hebron, Kentucky. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio and her medical degree from the University of Kentucky in Lexington.

Having grown up in Kentucky, Stephanie is thrilled to continue her medical training with the outstanding physicians at St. Elizabeth. Her dream has always been to practice medicine in the community that she loves.

Outside of medicine, Stephanie and her husband, Mark, enjoy volunteering in the Cincinnati community and attending social and charity events as much as possible. They are huge Cincinnati Reds and Bengals fan. Most importantly, they are proud parents to their beautiful daughter, Shawnie Reese, who inspires them every day.
