St. Elizabeth Healthcare has named Gary Blank as its chief patient services officer and chief nursing officer.

Blank has served as the Northern Kentucky health system’s senior vice president of professional services since 2011. He started with St. Elizabeth in 1981 as a nursing assistant and over the years served as a registered nurse, assistant nurse manager, manager of the emergency department, director of finance and assistant vice president of revenue cycle.

Blank succeeds Jane Swaim, who has announced her retirement following more than 40 years in health care.

“Jane Swaim and Gary Blank have both laid tremendous groundwork for our patient services,” Garren Colvin, St. Elizabeth’s chief operating officer, said in a press release. “This is a true testament of our succession planning because both Gary and Jane have been working closely together to integrate our patient services into the most collaborative setting for our patients.”
