Visiting of Patients
Visiting guidelines are established to provide patients the opportunity to designate and receive visitors of their choice and to provide an environment that maintains the safety/security of patients, visitors, and the hospital, prevents the transmission of community acquired infections, and provides a restful healing environment.
General Inpatient Areas
St. Elizabeth Healthcare allows flexible visitation in general inpatient areas 24 hours a day with minimal restrictions which have been deemed to be clinically necessary.
During times of increased respiratory disease in the community, St. Elizabeth Healthcare posts signs regarding limited visitation policies to minimize the spread of infections to patients. We are following visitation guidelines suggested by the Greater Cincinnati Health Council to help negate the spread of the flu and other respiratory illnesses that Tristate hospitals adhere to.
- No visitation by anyone who is ill with any respiratory symptoms including coughing, sneezing, runny nose, fever, etc.
- No visitation by anyone under age 14
- Newborn siblings visitation restricted to those children who have received their flu vaccination at least seven to 14 days prior to visiting
We appreciate your help and patience during this process.
St. Elizabeth Healthcare allows flexible visitation in outpatient areas with minimal restrictions which have been deemed to be clinically necessary. Any clinically necessary restrictions are defined by each individual outpatient department based on the services being provided and the needs of the patient.

Due to the acute needs of Emergency Department patients and environmental limitations, visitation is limited to two visitors per patient in the treatment area. Additionally, during triage a designated support person may accompany the patient upon their request. A designated support person may also escort the patient to the treatment area. After the patient’s initial assessment, a second visitor is welcomed to visit the patient in the treatment area.
