The Dedicated Professionals of St. Elizabeth

At the heart of the Breast Center of St. Elizabeth Women's Wellness is a collaborative team of highly skilled medical professionals-board certified, highly educated and trained, and dedicated to working together to provide the best health care for each patient. The team includes:

• Radiologists who specialize in mammography.
• Surgeons and other physicians specializing in breast cancer.
• Nurse Navigators specially trained in breast health.
• Genetic Counselors.
• Technologists specially trained in mammography and breast ultrasound.
• Trained and certified staff who offer support services, such as bra fittings for breast cancer patients.

Multidisciplinary Care Conferences: Patients have the opportunity to meet with all the members of their medical team-at one time in one place.

Breast Health Nurse Navigator Program: The caring nurses in this innovative program provide the emotional support and resources that patients need as they face diagnosis and treatment for breast health diseases. The nurse navigator at The Breast Center helps women "navigate" through the healthcare system. The nurse navigator is the one to turn to with questions about breast health or medical terminology. She can assist in organizing appointments, setting up conferences with the medical team, working with insurers and helping to monitor follow-up care.

Genetic Counseling Program: With one of the largest staffs of genetic counselors in the Tri-state (with Master of Science degrees in Medical Genetics), the Breast Center can provide patients with advice on their individual risk factors for breast, ovarian and colon cancer; counsel on gentic testing and early detection screening; and recommend measures to reduce the risk of cancer.

High Risk Specialty Clinic: The clinic provides screening and counseling, and develops ongoing monitoring plans, which can include genetic testing, early screening and follow-up care for women who are at potentially high risk for breast and ovarian cancer.
