Start time for Dragon Boat Festival Moves Up One Hour Friday September 7, 2012 ALEXANDRIA, Ky. – The check-in and start time for Saturday’s annual Kentucky Dragon Boat Festival at A.J. Jolly Park in Campbell County has been moved forward one hour to accommodate for the possibility of thunderstorms, which are expected to move through the area. As a result, team and individual check-in is now set for 8 a.m., and the opening ceremony for the festival now begins at 9 a.m. This is the third annual Kentucky Dragon Boat Festival, which is brought to you by the Kentucky Thorough-Breasts, Kentucky’s first breast cancer survivor dragon boat racing team, and presenting sponsor, St. Elizabeth Healthcare, to help fight breast cancer. During the event, individual teams of 20 paddlers each row Hong Kong-style dragon boats across the park’s lake in races throughout the day. The event raise awareness and funds to fight breast cancer and help survivors of the disease. Dragon boats are provided for all the teams, who volunteer to participate in the fun and novel event.
