The mission of the Foundation is to connect friends of St. Elizabeth Healthcare with the many needs of our region so that together, we can bring our community the best that healthcare has to offer. Below, you will find our most recent major fundraising efforts and how individuals and organizations alike can help us transform the health of our community.

Development of a Heart and Vascular Institute

Heart disease is the number one killer in the state of Kentucky. At St. Elizabeth Healthcare we are taking strides to create a healthier community by designing a program that not only treats heart disease, but also reduces the likelihood of it all together. A new Heart and Vascular Institute at St. Elizabeth Edgewood will place a strong emphasis on cardiac education prevention and wellness, while improving community access to Heart and Vascular Specialists. This revolutionary institute will feature a hybrid operating room, robotic surgery, sophisticated diagnostic capabilities and an extensive clinical research program.

Center for Neonatal Care

Evidence suggests that babies who need additional care are less stressed if they remain at the hospital where they were born.  A new state-of-the-art Center for Neonatal Care at St. Elizabeth Edgewood provides families with a comfortable, private environment that facilitates bonding and spending time with their newborn. The unit has been enhanced to feature 33 newly renovated state-of-the-art Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum suites. Also, the Family Birth Place has added a six bed recovery unit, six private triage rooms, four surgical suites and an eight bed prenatal area. Your support allows us to provide the best possible care to the newest and tiniest members of our community.

Nursing Education Endowment Fund

As a Magnet™ hospital, St. Elizabeth Healthcare wants to provide the best education we can for all of our nurses.  The Nursing Education Endowment Fund provides financial assistance to recruit and retain the nursing staff and meet on-going educational needs related to nursing school, formal and continuing education, increased quality of care, advancement and research.  The Fund will establish a Center for Nursing Excellence, where nurses are provided with access to programs and conferences, a place to conduct evidence-based research, have experience with equipment, technology and simulation labs, and learn nursing best practices.

Enhancements at St. Elizabeth Ft. Thomas

Numerous services planned for Ft. Thomas have recently been realized including a da Vinci surgical system, a new Women’s Wellness Center, the expansion of the Cancer Care Center, an eight-bed Hospice unit and beautification and landscape enhancements along Grand Avenue.

Upcoming renovations include a medical office building, refurbishing the emergency waiting area and finishing work on the outpatient registration areas. These renovations do so much more than improve physical buildings – they provide a comforting environment for people in their greatest time of need.
