James Conner, M.D.
Dr. James Conner grew up in Hebron, Kentucky. He earned his bachelor of arts in biochemistry from Transylvania University and his doctorate of medicine from the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine.
Having completed several rotations with St. Elizabeth Healthcare during his third and fourth years of medical school, James credits his decision to complete his residency at St. Elizabeth to the outstanding faculty and residents. He is excited to continue his training at such a distinguished and exceptional program.
Outside of work, James and his fiancé, Natalie, enjoy music, movies and the outdoors. They also both enjoy hiking, biking and kayaking.
Rajbir Dhaliwal, M.D.
Dr. Rajbir Dhaliwal grew up in a suburb outside of Vancouver, BC, Canada. He earned his bachelor of science in biology from the University of Manitoba and attended medical school at St. George's University in Grenada.
Raj chose to complete his residency training at St. Elizabeth because it is an unopposed program with an amazing learning atmosphere. He has interest in inpatient and sports medicine and felt that St. Elizabeth could provide him with exceptional teaching and skill to pursue either career path.
Outside of medicine, Raj and his wife, Kim, enjoy traveling, watching movies, attending sporting events and spending time with friends and family. They also have a maltese poodle named Thor and are expecting their first baby.
Ryan Freibert, D.O.
Dr. Ryan Freibert is a native of the rolling hills of Versailles, Kentucky. He is a 2010 graduate of the University of Kentucky where he earned his bachelor’s degree in biology. He went on to attend the University of Pikeville Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Ryan’s interests in Family Medicine include preventative and integrative approaches. After residency, he plans to pursue fellowship opportunities in Osteopathic Manipulation.
While attending medical school, Ryan met his wife with whom he graduated in the spring of 2014. They live in Park Hills, KY with their dog Franklin. Outside of medicine, his interests include golf, disc golf, fishing, hiking and camping.
Sarah McMullen, M.D.
Dr. Sarah McMullen grew up in the small town of Rising Sun, Indiana. She earned her undergraduate degree from Butler University and attended Indiana University, School of Medicine at the Terre Haute campus with a focus in rural medicine. After residency, she hopes to practice near her hometown.
St. Elizabeth was the perfect fit for Sarah because of the wonderful, friendly attending physicians and the most welcoming residents. After a month rotating with St. Elizabeth, she knew this was where she would feel most at home due to the family-friendly atmosphere. She also appreciated the exposure to office procedures, integrative medicine practices, OB opportunities and the respected position of the residents throughout the hospital.
Sarah spends her time outside of the office with her husband, Greg, and their dog, Kringle. She loves being outdoors, canoeing and attending festivals and family gatherings. Life will also get even more exciting as Greg and Sarah welcome their first child, a girl, into their lives this fall.
Although she is a graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine, her basketball allegiance still lies with her undergraduate Alma Mater. Go Dawgs!
Carla Sabatini, M.D.
Dr. Carla Sabatini is originally from beautiful Ontario, Canada. She earned her undergraduate and master’s degrees at the University of Guelph, where she focused on biomedical and neuroscience. She went to medical school at St. George’s University, spending her first year in England where she participated in the Global Scholars program due to her interest in global health issues.
Carla was drawn to St. Elizabeth Family Medicine Residency because of the friendly atmosphere and the unopposed program that gives family medicine residents lots of opportunity, enabling her to practice confidently in any setting.
Outside of medicine, Carla’s interests are travelling, playing guitar and spending time with friends and family. After living in New York City the last two years, she is looking forward to exploring Kentucky.
Ashley Spaulding, M.D.
Dr. Ashley Spaulding is originally from Alexandria, KY. She is a graduate of Northern Kentucky University where she earned her bachelor of science in biology. She earned her medical degree from the University of Louisville, School of Medicine.
Having grown up in this area, Ashley is thrilled to continue her training with the excellent physicians at St. Elizabeth. She chose this program because it offers strong obstetric and inpatient services. She also likes that the St. Elizabeth program is unopposed and gives her the opportunity to work directly with specialists.
Outside of medicine, Ashley enjoys summer festivals, running and traveling. Her 2-year-old son is the light of her life. Her long-term goal is to practice family medicine in the Greater Cincinnati area.
Alexa Summe, D.O.
Dr. Alexa Summe is a native of Ft. Thomas, KY. She is a graduate of Highlands High School and Northern Kentucky University where she earned her bachelor of science in biology. She attended medical school at the University of Pikeville Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Alexa met her husband during the first week of medical school and they were married two years later. Together, they were fortunate enough to spend their clinical years of medical school at St Elizabeth. She credits pursuing family medicine as a specialty to the amazing education she received from the residents and faculty at St. Elizabeth Family Medicine Residency. In addition to family medicine, she is also interested in women’s health, obstetrics and hospital medicine.
Outside of medicine, Alexa enjoys running, swimming and spending time with her family. She and her husband, Ryan, live in Park Hills with their aussiedoodle, Franklin.
Jenny Wheeler, M.D.
Dr. Jenny Wheeler was born and raised near Bethel, Maine and moved to the Georgia coast after graduating from high school. She attended Tulane University where she earned her undergraduate degree in psychology and english. She earned her medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine in Savannah, Georgia.
Jenny has particular interests in rural patient populations, medical procedures and integrative medicine. She chose St. Elizabeth Family Medicine Residency because of their challenging curriculum and supportive learning environment, which offer the opportunity to gain the clinical flexibility and confidence to care for a broad spectrum of patient needs.
Outside of medicine Jenny enjoys reading, spending time outdoors, gardening, hiking and spending time with family. She and her husband, Jim, are delighted with the recent birth of their first child, Aiden.
