Brenna Laytart Find a Location Find a Doctor Volunteer Services Over the past three years, I have accumulated over 150 volunteer hours at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky. I expanded by opportunity to gain knowledge for my future after high school. My experience has included providing customer service at the front desk, accompanying visitors to friends and family, assisting guests with handicapped needs to get them to desired areas, delivering flowers, and fielding questions about hospital services and directions. All of them have been so valuable in different ways. This confirms my commitment and aspiration to continue to pursue and grow in the health-related service field. These volunteering experiences will have tremendous impact on my future. My roles and responsibilities included building personal relationships with both patients and families on a daily basis. It was rewarding to be exposed to and welcome the diversity that I encountered as new guests and visitors arrived. My experience and interest to grow and learn about new cultures’ differences will be essential for the future and to integrate myself with the many different patients and colleagues I will encounter in the health industry. Both our society and the professional world needs these interpersonal skills. People need to collaborate for the good of others every day. The need for people to get along and overcome prejudices still exists. I will be prepared and confident in meeting the many needs of people and willing to make connections. Additionally, after contributing all my service hours at the hospital I have learned self-discipline, responsibility and time management skills. All are critical characteristics that make up the person that I am and help exemplify the high standards that would be expected for both a successful college and work career. I feel blessed to have had this chance to make a difference to the guests and patients of St. Elizabeth and believe that I have supported St. Elizabeth’s mission that St. Elizabeth Volunteers are passionate about their role in making a positive difference in the patient experience.
