Heart and Stroke Patients: Now Time Is on Your Side.
If your heart or brain is in trouble, time is your enemy. Each heartbeat can cost heart muscle. Each passing second can cost brain function. In other words, the faster doctors find out precisely what and where the problem is, the better your chances are of coming out of that situation alive and well. That’s where our 320-slice CT scanner blows every other imaging device out of the water, delivering 3-D images of your heart or brain—including blood flow—in less time than it takes for a heartbeat.

Speed and Precision When the Heart Is in Trouble
“With all other CT scanners, it takes several revolutions to image the complete heart, and the heart beats several times during that process. So basically, the heart is like a bowl of shaking jell-o and that causes problems for most CT scanners,” says Jim Woods, administrative coordinator for St. Elizabeth’s Department of Radiology. “But this scanner can image your whole heart in less than half a second. That’s a huge advantage for saving hearts by saving time and producing crystal-clear images to help our team find exactly where the problem is.”

Instant Brain Imaging and Stroke Diagnosis
Other scanners are incapable of delivering the vital information and brain images necessary in the mere minutes that the Aquilion ONE is able to deliver. The whole brain can be imaged in a single split-second and in a little more than a second, the brain can be imaged both with and without contrast dye, determining if a patient has a stroke, a clot or a bleed, and where it is.  Patients can be off the scanner and have a diagnosis of stroke or no stroke, and the ER doctor can give the clot-buster in 15 minutes, instead of the two or three hours it would normally take.
